PSAPs’ Finest Honor Roll: Melissa Alterio, Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications

Melissa Alterio

2023 PSAPs’ Finest Director of the Year Melissa Alterio (Executive Director, Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications) is a leader who sets the tone for the Cobb County ECC through her positivity, empathy, compassion, and grace.

In addition to promoting ways to boost morale and encourage personal and professional growth, Melissa holds regular meetings to update the ECC team on coming changes, and to seek feedback on what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s needed.

Melissa has made it a point to get to know every employee – to know what drives them, what moves them, and what motivates them to do better.

When she began her tenure as Executive Director, Melissa set the tone of what to expect by coming to work dressed in a red uniform polo, just like everyone else. Talk about a true team player! Melissa epitomizes a people-first attitude to leadership every day.
