Sangamon County Central Dispatch System

This year, I really hoped for a return to some form of normalcy (whatever that may be) for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

2020 was a bust with the center on complete lockdown. 2021 still saw our doors locked to visitors, but loads of food was dropped off by well-wishers who appreciate the important, but often thankless, work that is done within our walls. Toward the end of the week, a very large-trailered smoker was brought to the parking lot, and ribs, pork loins, chicken legs, baked beans, etc. were made for each shift. Someday we may be able to return to hosting a banquet!

While our doors will remain locked for the near future to protect our dispatchers, rest assured that the well-wishers will still drop off goodies in droves, and we’ll come up with some crazy way to celebrate these dedicated and overworked individuals as they keep plugging away and not letting a single call for help go unanswered.
